Have you seen this movie? My friend told me about it… Do you think it’s accurate about gamers? He said it was a pretty good movie.

From the movie’s official website: “A middle-school science teacher and a hot sauce mogul vie for the Guinness World Record on the arcade classic, Donkey Kong. Steve and Billy engaged in a cross-country duel to see who could set the high score and become The King of Kong. Along the way, both men learned valuable lessons about what it means to be a father, a husband, and a true champion discovering that you dont always need to win to be a winner.”

Compelling and entertaining flick. I never the impression that this was necessarily about ‘typical’ gamers, but more of a niche community. The film focuses on people dedicated to the original arcade games. The competition that rolls in to challenge the ‘champion’ of King Kong is really an outsider who has unwittingly drifted into the scene.
